About Africa Young Scientists
Empowering scientists. Transforming communities. Impacting the world.
Our Story
Africa Young Scientists (AYS) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of African scientists through mentorship, professional development, and collaborative opportunities. Founded by Dr. Philip A. Adeniyi, AYS began in 2014 as a grassroots mentorship effort and officially transitioned into a registered organization on July 20, 2019.
AYS was created to bridge the mentorship gap between early-career scientists and experienced researchers across the continent. The organization provides structured support to young scientists, particularly those from underrepresented groups, including female scientists, ensuring they have access to the guidance, networks, and resources needed to thrive in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
